Aisling CliodhnadhSullivan (born 16 March 1984), also known as Aisling bea she is an Irish comedian actor, writer and director. Bea started appearing as a part-time actress in Irish or British TV shows in 2009, started her career as a stand-up comedian in 2011. After 2012 she had been being featured in sketch comedy programs, sitcoms, and other similar programming. Following her win in the Edinburgh Comedy Awards she began to appear regularly on various panel shows where she was a frequent guest. She was a member of the 8 Out of 10 Cats team from 2016-2017 and is a regular contestant in its spinoff, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. She was the child of Brian O'Sullivan and Helen O'Sullivan. Sinead is her sister-in-law. In 2012 she was the first woman ever to receive the So You Think You Are Funny award. Bea is her surname in honor of her deceased father. Aisling Cliodhnadh was born on April 16, 1984 in Kildare Town, County Kildare. Her father Brian was an equine veterinarian who committed suicide when Bea was three years old though she wasn't told about how he died until she turned 13 years old. In honor of her dad, she took the stage name Bea and in 2017 wrote an article about suicides and deaths that affected her family members for The Guardian. Bea and her younger sister Sinead were raised by their mother Helen (nee Moloney) an elementary school teacher, jockey trainer, and an ex-professional jockey. They were both passionate about horses, race meetings and racing. Bea had a job as a Tour Guide in the Irish National Stud. From the age of a child, Bea knew that she was not interested in the racing industry. Instead she loved the performance arts.
